Dear Diary,

Yesterday, I got my hair cut. I got it layered in the front around my face & all through the rest of my hair. It looks really cute.

Then 2day nothing much happened. Oh! Duh! A few weeks ago I sent in an essay 2 Cricket Magazine for kids. 2day I got a letter from them telling me that MY entry will be in Cricket Magazine and in The Eagle! The Bryan/College Station Newspaper!

I am so psyched!

100% truth, and I was very proud. I have no idea what my entry was about or if it exists anywhere. I bet my mom has it cut out somewhere in a box because she saved all kinds of stuff like that. After a quick Google search, there are issues of Cricket Magazine available for purchase going back to 2002; if I knew which month it was published, I would pay the $6.95 without a doubt. It's not worth guessing, though.

Dear Diary,

Tonight I am spending the night at Suzy's house. We just got back from the movies. We went to see Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course. It was really good. But I saw 2 people I knew there. I saw Kevin K. & Micheal D. THEN, when Amy picked us up we went to Sonic. A car pulled up beside us. (on our left) I was sitting in the back on the left side. I looked over at the truck and I knew the person sitting in the passengers seat. You'll never guess who it was! It was Ethan W.!! We both looked at eachother at the same time. But he didn't smile or wave or even acknowledge me. So I didn't pay much attention to him either. 

Also, I am so ready 4 school 2 start! Especially because I miss my friends. Guys & girls both included. Speaking of that, it seems like I have more guy friends than girl friends. On the next page is my list. Check it out!!

NM happened 2day. Sarah E. (my BFF) came over. She was here from 7:30am - 4:30pm. We had SO much fun!

Then us three (Mom, Sarah & I) went to Mom's school. Sarah & I explored Consol while Mom worked. Thats all!

It's a small thing, but I remember having the chance to go to my mom's school and wander around while she worked in her room was one of THE coolest things to do over the summer, especially because she worked at a huge high school which made me feel extra grown up wandering those halls.

Dear Diary,

Today Carrie B. went to see The Country Bears @ the movies. It was a good movie, I, at 1st didn't want to C it. It ended up being a cute show. 

Then after dinner I was sitting in our dining room table working. On the table was a candle. We have this metal cover 2 put on it. I bumped the table and it fell off. So I picked it ↑ so I could put it back on. I dropped it immediately because it was HOT. Now I have burns on the tips of my fingers. I am holding my hand by the AC vent 2 help.

Dear Diary - 

Today Mom & went 2 C Stuart Little #2. It was a cute show. After that we went to Steinmart to look @ clothes. I got a pair of of Kakhi shorts & a pair of jeans that have an attached leater belt. Theyre a bit long but I'll be wearing them w/ my high high heels. I'm already counting down the days 'til school starts. 

Now Mom is officially ready. I have been ready for quite a while. We have well I have exactly 22 days until school. Not counting the 1st day. SO in other words I can't wait! 4 quite a few reasons. Here they R. 1. Something todo. During the school year I'm there 8 hours a day. Then I sleep another 9 hrs. That leaves 7 hrs to be w/ Mom & Dad. Then 1 hr to go 2& from school. 

2. Ethan goes to Rayburn. Since I'll be there 8 hrs. that'll give me a chance to make better friends w/ him I mean on my list he's in the top 10. On his I'm not sure where I rank. 

3. New friends. Like they say u can't have 2 many friends. Even though, to me, quality is more important than quanity. 

4. Now that I'm in Jr High it means I'm getting older & growing up. I know I'm not the only one though. But not everybody thinks the way that I do.

5. I get to switch classes. That is fun. I don't have any reason besides that it sounds cool. 

6. I can't think of a #6. OH now I've got 1. This probably won't happen in sixth or in the 1st symester of 7th. But there are boyfriends! Followed by Accompanied by dating, hugging, KISSING. Being able to do THAT definitely is a sign up growing ↑. Well that's all I have to say besides: I <3 EW & HH. 

Oh. I forgot to say that 1 of my crushes is coming back. I kinda have a crush on Jackson.

Today we went back-to-school-shopping. I got me a blue/white & brown striped tank & a denim skirt. Today I did get somewhat closer to Henre. Ethan wasn't @ church but his Mom was. Tommorow Mom & I are going 2 C a movie. Probably Stuart Little 2. 

And I have 3 & 1/2 weeks until school starts. I am probably the only person but, I can't wait until school. I am sick of summer plus Rayburn is sounding like soo much fun. Dear Diary,

Today we went to the Guadelupe & slid down rocks. Mom & Dad sat there & watched Suzy & I. The Lewis's went to Seaworld today. While we After sliding, Suzy & I had blisters all over our butts. IT HURTS ALOT! I also have a sunburn where my tankini stopped. That hurts too. But not as much as my rear. We (Suz & I) are in a room by ourselfs. Right now we're trying to sleep but the people above us won't settle down. They should because it's past quiet time! This place we're @ is called Mo Ranch. They have a rule that @ 10 pm everybody has to be quiet. The up stairs people obviously don't want to obey that rule. Tomorrow, we'll be going home! I'm so excited because it's home! I miss it and my bed. I also miss the way WE do things. And OUR food, even though the breakfast @ Way of the Wolf was SOO awesome! Well I'm getting tired so I'm gonna have to say BYE!

Oh. Em. Geeee. Mo Ranch and our burned booties are things that Suzy and I still talk about to this day. I remember rubbing aloe vera all over our behinds and then taking turns in front of the wall AC to help cool our burning butts off. We were miserable. I also remember that pretty much everything about Mo Ranch sucked. The place we were right before then - Way of the Wolf - was a place we went back to again. And I think Mom and Dad went back for an anniversary trip at some point. It was a bed and breakfast, and although the owners were super duper weird, I remember it being beautiful. The breakfast was also actually delicious - it was either pancakes or crepes with yummy fruit, if I remember correctly. I also suppose I could have pulled that out of nowhere.

Today we (Mom, Dad, Tom, Nanchy, Rachel, Suzy & Me) arrived in Fredericksburg. Suzy & I r staying in the Ranch House w/ Tom & Nancy. Mom & Dad have the cabin. The cabin is AWESOME. The ranch house is pretty cool but the cabin is awesome. On the way here we saw the coolest animal. They thought it was a nutria but it's not. That's all I'm tired it's late.

Today @ VBS I found out that Ethan's last name is W. Not much better than P. according to Suzy. Right now I am sorta angry @ Ethan. The reason I say sorta is because I'm not sure that what he did was toward's me. Just to make a long story short, as I, Suzy & Maria walked by he started laughing @ us. I am not sure he was laughing at us. He was with this other boy so he might have said something funny. But he laughed right after I did something stupid. So I'm not really sure. That's all. Bye.

Reading this, and many of the other entries, I'm reminded how egocentric teenagers and pre-teens are. And I am SO grateful to not be in that place where I think every little thing is about me or directed at me. That was stressful, and life is much more enjoyable when you don't really give a shit what other people think. Just sayin'.

Today Suzy came w/ us to VBS. She didn't know the songs. After a song, she pulled me down. (not all the way) and said "who is that guy right be the isle at the very end of the pew behind us?"

Yes, believe it or not it's true. I don't know if it's because he likes me or because he thinks I'm tottally strange. Oh well! At least he knows who I am.

Also during class I was sitting on the couch next to Suzy. Henre walked in and instead of sitting next to Anna, he came and sat next to me!! What an awesome night.

LaQuon hasn't called me in a long time. So I haven't told him that I like him. If he doesn't call me tomorrow I'll call him. I have to let him know.

Dear Diary,

During the Miricale Rally, Sonia told a story. It went like this. 

There was a 7 year old sister & a 5 yr old brother. They were very close through think and thin. They became even closer when their parents divorced. After the sister got out of highschool some people told her about Christ. She accepted Him into her life. Some people told her brother as well but he thought hes have to give up friends, girlfriends, parties and all the other fun stuff. Every time something good happened in the sisters life she knew it was Jesus that caused it. And she always told her brother hoping it would convince him to believe in Christ. And it never worked. Suddenly the brother came down with a disease and finally died from it. Then she said you probably wondered what happened to the sister. She said that the sister was herself!

That gave me the shivers. It really touched me. 

Now I have to tell you about a dream. I won't tell you the whole thing. I'll just tell you that I kissed Brad Bye.

Wow. What a roller coaster of a day. My biggest take away is that I find it hilarious how quickly I went from this touching story to a dream about kissing a boy I like. I never have been one for fluff, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised by my blunt transitions.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened today. But it did rain. I almost forgot what it looked like because it hasn't rained in so long. Also, Dad made an amazing dinner tonight. It was a Crusted Leg of Lamb. It was lamb with parsly sage, rosemary, and thyme on it. After it was marinated the lamb got covered with goatcheese. Yuck! All but the goatcheese was great. Right now, things are hard. I mean with boys. I have 2 crushed. One of them, Brad, doesn't seem to like me like me. He just likes me as a friend, I think. Then the other 1, La'Quon, doesn't know I like him. Brad does. And La'Quon gave me his order of who he likes best to worst. I was #4. So I have a chance but I'm afraid that if I tell him he is going to freak. Then he'll be scared off. What should I do.

I knew the crush on LQ was coming. Hahaha. Fickle, fickle young Emily. Regarding my room - God bless my parents for letting me be crazy with paint. It was terrible, but twelve year old me LOVED it. Our house has a super steep roof, so my room had vaulted (?) ceilings. The ceiling was a different color than the walls, which were different from the cabinet doors, which were different from the shelves. Again, it was insane and annoying; I loved it, and I can't believe my parents let that happen.

Side note before we jump in: this entry, as well as some others coming up, are in a different diary than the main one I've been going through. They seem to fit in with what was going on in my life, but it is weird that I had two diaries during this 6ish month period. Anyway, here's one from that other diary.

Now I like this other guy Brad. He isn't like Jackson or Andrew or Blake. Them, I was rude to. Well not really MEAN, but I teased them. Not to be mean but just to...oh I don't know. Well, a few weeks ago, we had the lock-in at school. It was for Star Readers in AR. During the lock-in we had the walk of bravery. At the end of the hallway, everybody who had walked, waited. Jackson, Ashley P. and I started talking about who we liked and used to like. Jackson already knew that I liked Brad. He also knew that I liked and Andrew and Blake. Then I told him that I liked him in 3rd, 4th, and part of 5th. He was totally shocked. Then he started stuttering and slicking his hair. Then he said that he liked Brittanie K. And for a little while in fourth, ME!! I was really surprised. Ashley never said who she liked. I know she likes Brad, used to like Craig M, Cash and Kevin. Yuck! Oh well. That's all I have to say.

Apparently, I was all about spilling the tea. Is that what the kids say these days? I do remember this lock-in, but I didn't remember it being such a gossip sesh. Not that I should be surprised. Again, I still think I'm lying about Jackson liking me back, but who knows. Maybe grown-up me has too little faith in now 11 year old me. Also, I retroactively apologize to the boys I wrote "yuck" about.

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, Brad came up to me & squeezed me in the ribs. Then after that he told me to get in front of him in line. So I did and I was freaked out! He popped my bra!

Then today @ feild day, Karla and I were playing tic-tac-toe. All of a sudden someone came up behind me, pulled out the neck of my shirt, and they squirted ice cold water down my back! I turned around and I caught Brad running off. I started to chase him but I couldn't catch him. So after about ten minutes, I saw Brad talking to a few of his friends. His back was to me so I went up behind him, and poured the water down his back. As I poured it I said, "Happy Graduation!" You could tell he totally didn't suspect it!

It went on for alot longer! Yes! I think he likes me!

Now I've got some bad news. I was on this little thing on the playground and what you do is pull yourself across on this handle. It was sliding really well in this one spot. So I decided to try it. So I jumped off with my hands on and it didn't go! I slipped off and landed flat on my back! Then Brad came over and helped me get up. He held my hand! I was crying because it hurt. Brad also put his arm around my shoulders! He took me over to Mrs. Hensel and got a band-aid for my elbow. After that he was being really nice to me and he kept helping me go everywhere! I didn't even need him to. He knew that too! He did it anyways!

Today it was totally awesome! Bradley came up to me during recess and tickled me and then he said, "I hope it's okay with you if I flirt with you instead of Carrie." Dear Diary,

Sorry that I haven't written in a while. Lot's of things to tell you.

#1: Friday night, Kevin K. called me! Agh!
#2: Today @ Lake Somerville, Pa, Daddy, & I caught 124 white bass in 30 min! Funness!
#3: The Wednesday before last, Brad & I had a fight. It was my fault because I got really angry @ him. Actually it was his fault. Oh Well. It was when we were playing kickball. He was supposed to be team captain. He acted as if he was the team. Well at least I apologized to him.
#4: Today is Friday. BUT there is no school! Yeah!
#5: Yesterday we went to the D.A.R.E. concert DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. While we were there, Brad saw all of his old friends from Kemp, his old school. Now I can tell why he acts like he does like being a FLIRT. That was just how those kids were I think thats it. 
#5. Oh I almost forgot, I got 3rd place on my constitution essay for the George Bush Library contest. I got $25 to Barnes & Nobles. Jackson and Cash C. both got 2nd place & got $75 to Barnes & Nobles each. Oh Well.
